1 killed in clash over land dispute

Dhaka: A person was killed and three others were injured in a clash between two groups of people over a land dispute at North Kalshi in the Pallabi area, Dhaka on Thursday.

The victim is Abdur Rahman Chanchal, in his tweties, a student of Bangabandhu College while the injured as Rajib Hossain, who is around 28 years old, Md Ali, belived to be 27, and Md Shaheen, in his early thirties.

The Pallabi police said there has been a long dispute between Joinuddin and MA Awal, one of the owners of Heavenly Property Ltd , over a piece of land at Barirtek in North Kalshi area of Mirpur 12.

Both the groups involved in a clash with sharp weapons around 11:00am over taking possession of the land, said the Pallabi police.

At least four people, including Abdur Rahman Chanchal, Rajib Hossain, Md Ali and Shaheen, were seriously injured in the clash. They were taken to nearby Islami Bank Hospital and then shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where Chanchal died around 1:15pm, said police.

Hospital authorities said Chanchal was sitting beside a mobile servicing shop  when the clash broke out and got hurt during the fight.
