Mehzabin committed suicide, CID concludes case

Dhaka: A Dhaka court on Thursday exonerated all three of the accused - former Awami League lawmaker Khan Tipu Sultan, his wife Jasmine Ara and son Humayun Sultan Sadab -from a case filed in connection with the killing of Shamarukh Mehzabin, who at the time of her death was married to Humayun.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Ashoke Datta passed the order after hearing on a petition filed by complainant Nurul Islam, father of slain Shamarukh.
On March 29 this year, assistant police super of Ramna unit CID Munshi Ruhul Quddus submitted a final report of the case to Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court.
The CID officer appealed to the court to relieve the three accused from the case as the allegations were not proved against the trio in connection with the killing of Shamarukh.
Shamarukh’s death was a case of suicide, the report concluded.
Later, plaintiff Nurul Islam filed a no objection petition to a court against the police report.
On November 13 last year, Mehzabin was found dead at their Dhanmandi residence in the capital.
Mehzabin was studying FCPS at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University on completion of MBBS from Holy Family Medical College in Dhaka.
Nurul Islam, father of the deceased, filed a murder case against Khan Tipu Sultan, an Awami League leader and former MP from Jessore-5, his wife Dr Jasmine Ara Begum and their son Humayun.
