Dhaka: A devastating fire gutted 32 shanties of a slum and nine shops at Mohakhali Sat Tala slum, Dhaka in the early hours of Friday.

Inspector Mohammad Ali of Fire Service Control Room said the fire originated from electric short circuit around 5:10am and it soon burned down the 32 shanties and adjoining nine shops in the area.

On information, seven firefighting units rushed to the spot and extinguished the blaze around 5:40 am.

However, there was no report of any casualty.
