Dhaka: The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) 1 on Wednesday set 23 February for submitting formal charge against alleged war criminal commander from Satkhira, Abdul Khaleq Mondol.

‘The two-member tribunal headed by Justice Mohammad Shahinur Islam issued the order accepting a time plea,’ said prosecutor Zead-al Malum.

Today was set for submitting the probe report in the case, but the prosecution submitted report on progress in the investigation and sought more time for submitting the actual report.

The now defunct ICT 2 on 20 August, 2015, showed Mondol, a former lawmaker and chief of Satkhira unit of Jamaat-e-Islami, arrested in war crimes case.

According to the prosecution, Mondol commanded Razakar Bahini in Satkhira in 1971 and carries out monstrous crimes against humanity. The investigation agency has found evidences of his complicity in crimes like murder, abduction, rape and looting.
