The Bangladesh Telecommunication and Regulatory Commission (BTRC) has blocked over 500 porno websites.

The BTRC has taken the initiative following a directive of State Minister for Posts and Telecommunications Tarana Halim.

Letters have been sent to all concerned to take immediate steps in this regard on Monday, said BTRC Secretary Sarwar Alam while talking to UNB on Wednesday, reports UNB.

All mobile operators, internet service providers (ISP), International Internet Gateway (IIG) and the website regulators concerned have been asked to block the listed pornography website through letters, he said.

Already, 560 websites have been blocked, he added.

The technical committee formed by the Posts and Telecommunications Division has recently submitted a list of some porno websites and following the recommendations of the committee, the BTRC has taken the initiative to block porno websites, said BTRC secretary.
