Ministry for reconsidering SC stand on relocating ICT
Dhaka: The Law Ministry has once again urged the Supreme Court to reconsider its request to relocate the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) from the old High Court building.
The ministry made the call in a letter sent to the Supreme Court on Thursday.
The letter reads: “The ICT relocation will create resentment among people and it won’t be acceptable to all. It’ll also throw the Supreme Court into question to the country’s people.”
On August 18, the Supreme Court authorities sent a letter to the Law Ministry for relocating the ICT from the old High Court building, asking it to hand over the possession of the building to the SC within October 31.
Later on October 30, the Law Ministry sent a letter to the SC's registrar general, requesting the SC to reconsider its directive.
On December 4, the Supreme Court further asked the ministry to relocate the ICT from the old High Court building by December 31.
