A former union council chairman and his son were killed as a truck ran over them on Dhaka-Chittagong highway in Raipur area in Daudkandi upazila of Comilla on Saturday morning.

The deceased are Md Selim, 65, former chairman of Bhitikandi union council, and his son Golam Sarwer, 28, both residents of Kalipur village of the Titash upazila, reports UNB.

Daudkandi Highway Police Officer-in-charge Abdul Awal said the Comilla-bound truck ran over them in the area in the morning after its driver lost control over the steering, leaving the duo dead on the spot.

A case was filed in this connection.
