Clash halts traffic of Dhaka-Ctg, Dhaka-Sylhet highways for 2 hrs
Brahmanbaria: Traffic movement on Dhaka-Chittagong and Dhaka-Sylhet highways remained suspended for two hours following a clash between two groups of villagers at Hatihata in Sadar upazila on Saturday.
Police and witnesses said the clash ensued following an altercation between two residents of Kuttapara village of Sarail upazila and Malihata village of Sadar upazila at Hatihata intersection at about 11:00am over the fare of a van rickshaw, leaving 15 people injured.
Long tailbacks were created on Dhaka-Chittagong and Dhaka-Sylhet highways following the clash.
On information, two police teams from Sadar Police Station and Sarail Police Station went to the spot and brought the situation under control, said officer-in-charge of Sarail Police Station Rupuk Kumar.
However, traffic on the highways returned to normalcy at about 1:00pm.
