Religious extremists behind MP Liton murder: Quader
Dhaka: Terming the killing of Gaibandha-1 (Sundarganj) lawmaker Manjurul Islam Liton a planned one, Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader on Sunday said the religious extremists will have to pay for this.
‘It's primarily evident that it's a cool-headed killing of communal forces. The religious extremists will have to pay price for this,’ he said.
Quader, also the Road Transport and Bridges Minister, said this while addressing a press conference after an emergency meeting of the party's secretaries held at the AL president's Dhanmondi political office.
He said, ‘On new year, we want to firmly tell people that no evil force would be able to hinder the country's ongoing development and advancement.’
Quader went on saying, ‘We, along with the country's people, would resist the quarters that are trying to fish in the troubled waters by giving shelter to killers.’
Awami League leaders Ahmed Hossain, Enamul Haque Shamim and Abdus Sobhan Golap were, among others, present at the press conference.
Awami League MP from Gaibandha-1 constituency Manjurul Islam Liton was shot dead in a gun attack at Bamandanga village in Sundarganj upazila on Saturday.
