Ashkona raid: Two women ‘militants’ put on fresh remand

A Dhaka court on Monday placed two alleged female militants, arrested during a police drive on a militant den at Ashkona on December 24, on a six-day fresh remand in a case filed under the Anti-Terrorism Act.

Those remanded are Jebunnahar alias Shila alias Shumaiya alias Marjuan, wife of militant Jahidul Islam and Trish Moni alias Umme Sumaiya, wife of absconding militant Md Mainul Islam alias Abu Musa.

Metropolitan Magistrate Judge Satyabrata Shikder passed the order after inspector Sayedur Rahman of Counter Terrorism and Transactional Unit (CTTC) produced them before the court seeking a seven-day remand.

Earlier on December 26, they were placed on a seven-day remand by another court in a case filed after the raid.

On 24 December, two suspected militants, including Shakira alias Tahira, the wife of absconding militant Sumon, were killed in the raid.

Two women- Jebunnahar along with one year and four month daughter Mariam Binte Jahid and Trisha along with her four months daughter surrendered to police during the raid.
