Gazipur: At least ten shops were gutted by a fire that broke out in a market at Cheragali Market in Tongi, Dhaka in early hours of Sunday.

Fire service officials said the fire originated from a fruits shop at Shafiuddin Market in the area around 4:00am and it soon spread to nearby shops.

Three fire fighting units from Tongi fire station rushed to the spot and extinguished the fire after one hour.

The extent of losses from the fire was estimated at Tk30 lakh.
