Law on EC formation on President’s directives: Minister
Dhaka: Law Minister Anisul Huq on Wednesday said an initiative will be taken for enacting a law on the formation of the Election Commission if the President gives any directive in this regard.
He came up with the information while talking to reporters after inaugurating a training workshop at the Judicial Administration Training Institute in Dhaka.
Anisul also said the Law Ministry has agreed with the Election Commission’s decision to drop ‘Scale’ from its election symbol list, reports UNB.
Replying to a query about the relocation of the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) from the old High Court building, he said the government will urge the Supreme Court to reconsider its decision whenever it asks for the ICT relocation.
Asked about any change in the ICT prosecution, the minister said, ‘When we started the tribunal, we had no enough experience. We gathered it gradually and now the tribunal is a specially recognised one. The tribunal and the prosecution will be made more dynamic if necessary.’
Talking about the recruitment of judges in the High Court, Anisul said they will request the President for recruiting judges as per the demand.
