Glitch in PM’s flight: Two Biman staff on fresh remand
A Dhaka court on Thursday placed two staff of Biman Bangladesh Airlines on a seven-day fresh remand in a case filed over glitch in a flight carrying Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Metropolitan magistrate Sikder Ali Chakraborty passed the order when inspector Mahbub Alam of Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of DMP produced them before the court and sought a 10-day remand for each, reports UNB.
Those remanded are Siddikur Rahman and Rokonujjaman.
Earlier on December 28, another court placed the duo on a seven-day remand.
On December 22, another court placed seven other Biman staff — its chief engineer Debesh Chowdhury, chief engineer (quality assurance) SS Siddique, principal engineer (system and maintenance) Billal Hossain, engineers Shamiul Haque, Niron Chandra Bishwas, Lutfar Rahman and Zakir Hossain — on a 7-day remand. A team of DMP's Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit arrested them from different areas of the city on December 21.
On December 20, Director (Engineering and Management) of Biman Bangladesh Airlines MM Asaduzzaman filed a case against nine officials of the national flag carrier with Airport Police Station under the Special Powers Act.
A Biman flight carrying the Prime Minister had to make an emergency landing at Ashgabat International Airport in Turkmenistan on her way to Budapest on November 27 following low oil pressure in its engine.
