Dhaka: A fire broke out at a multi-storey building in Banani on Monday afternoon.

Local people said fire originated at the building of Road 17 in Block-C at about 2:30pm.

Around 16 units of fire fighters are working to douse the fire.

Dhaka fire service control room duty official Ziaur Rahman said smoke is coming out of the building, it has been assumed that huge flames are blazing inside.

Witnesses said several people have been trapped inside the building. Many of them also took shelter to the roof.
