10 ‘militants’ to be quizzed

Dhaka: A court here on Tuesday placed 10 suspected militants, arrested from the city’s Uttara and Kalabagan areas, on remand for different terms in a case filed with Ashulia Police Station.

Those who remanded are Jannatul Mahal alias Jinnah, Shariful Islam, Mizanur Rahman, Ziaur Rahman, Abu Sadat Mohammad Sultan Al Raji, Al Mizanur Rashid, Koushik Adnan, Meraj Ali, Mufti Abdur Rahman Bin Ataullah and Mohammad Shahrier Wazed Khan.

Senior Judicial Magistrate Fairuj Tasnim granted a two-day remand for Jannatul while placed nine others on a four-day remand when senior superintendent of police of Rab-4 Unu Mong, also the investigation officer of the case, produced them before the court with a 10-day remand prayer.

Earlier, members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) in separate drives arrested the 10 suspected militants from the city’s Uttara and Kalabagan areas on Sunday night.

Later, they were shown arrest in a case filed with Ashulia Police Station over the death of JMB leader Sarwar Jahan, who allegedly jumped to death from a five-storey building during a Rab drive in Ashulia on October 8 last.
