Dhaka: A female student of Dhaka University (DU) allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself at her residence in the city’s Farmgate area on Wednesday.

The deceased is Mohsina Medha, a 2nd year student of the DU Department of International Relations and a resident of Farmgate area in the city, reports UNB.

Family members found Medha hanging from the ceiling in her room early in the morning, said DU campus sources.

Medha’s friends said she might have killed her at about 4:00am in a huff as her mother rebuked the DU student for chatting on Facebook at dead of night.

DU Proctor M Amzad Ali said, ‘I’ve heard about the incident from the students of the department.’

Ehsanul Haque, chairman of the Department of International Relations, also said they came to know about the incident from students.
