Dhaka: Gunmen stormed the flat of a local Awami League leader in Dhaka’s Chamelibagh area on Wednesday evening and fired shots, injuring his mother.
The injured is Sharmin Yasmin Alo, believed to be55, mother of Ali Reza Rana, former organising secretary of ward-33 unit of Awami League, reports UNB.
Quoting flat inmates, police said a gang of gunmen, numbering 3-4, went to Rana’s 5th floor apartment of a seven-storey building at Chamelibagh under Paltan Police Station at about 6:00pm and pressed the calling bell.
As Sharmin opened the door, the gangsters inquired about Rana to her, said sub-inspector Moniruzzaman of the police station.
When the AL leader’s mother replied that her son was not there inside, they opened fire on her and left the scene, he said.
