Anti Corruption Commission suspends own staff on graft charges
Dhaka: The Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) on Thursday suspended one of its staff for allegedly getting involved in corruption and abusing his power.
The Commission at its regular meeting on Thursday suspended assistant director SM Shamim Iqbal for his involvement in corruption, misconduct and abuse of power, ACC spokesman Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya told UNB.
According to official sources, the Commission in June 2015 approved a charge-sheet in a graft case, but Shamim did not submit it before court. As a result, the accused of the case recently got off the hook from the court.
The ACC took the matter into the account and conducted a departmental inquiry against the ACC assistant director and found him guilty. Besides, there are some other allegations against Shamim.
