Dhaka: Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) recovered 284 illegal firearms, 2090 rounds of bullet and arrested 520 people in this connection in anti-crime drives in the capital last year.

Police also recovered 1746 crude bombs, 2586 chocolate bombs, 72,126 other types of bombs during the period between January 1 and December 31 in 2016.

Sources at the DMP headquarters said a total of 249 cases were filed with different police stations in the city in connection with recovery of firearms and ammunition as well as arresting suspected criminals.

Besides, 582 cases were also filed with different police stations in the capital in connection with stealing vehicles.

Police also recovered 1166 stolen vehicles, including 312 private cars,20 buses, 68 microbuses, 50 jeeps or pickups, 54 trucks or covered vans and 443 motorcycles in seperate drives conducted during the same period.
