Comilla: A man was killed and three others were injured when a covered van collided with a private car on the Dhaka-Chittagong Highway at Comilla in the early hours of Thursday.
Local people said a Comilla-bound private car collided with a covered van in Chandina upazila area at about 4:45am. The car’s driver died on the spot.

The car was severely damaged during the accident and the driver was trapped in the car. Later, fire fighters recovered his body from the car.
The injured were passengers of the car.

The deceased is Kazi Jasimuddin, a resident of Bharasha village of Burichang upazila, Comilla.

One of the injured, Fayezul Islam, was taken to a private hospital in Chandina. Fayezul’s son-in-law, Abul Hassan, said Saudi expatriate Fayezul was travelling to Comilla from Dhaka.

The other two injured could not be identified immediately. They were taken to Chandina Upazila Complex; later doctors sent them to Comilla.
