Mixed reactions from Nazrul’s family over verdict in Narayanganj 7 murders
Dhaka: Selina Begum Beauty, the widow of slain Narayanganj city councilor Nazrul Islam, on Monday expressed satisfaction over the verdict that sentenced 26 people, including ex-city councillor Nur Hossain, to death and nine others to different jail terms in the two cases filed over the sensational seven-murder incident.
“We wanted justice and we got it. Now we demand its immediate implementation,” she told reporters after the verdict.
Beauty said the associates of Nur Hossain are active and those who were excluded from the chargesheet by spending money are threatening her family members.
She said she along with family members has been passing days in fear due to the threats from the associates of Nur Hossain.
Expressing dissatisfaction over the exclusion of some people from the chargesheet, Shahidul Islam alias Shaheed Chairman, father-in-law of Nazrul Islam, in comments after the verdict said Siddhirganj is still under the control of Nur Hossain, as he controls everything from jail.

Shaheed alleged that some associates of Nur Hossain are still staying in Narayanganj city and wielding a lot of power, and controlling illegal trade and extortion in the city.
Nur’s ten associates, who were arrested in the 7-murder case, were released from jail as their names were excluded from the chargesheet.
