Panchagarh: Two women were killed as lighting struck them in Bali-Moharaja area of Atoari on Thursday morning.

The deceased were Budo Rani, reportedly in her fifties and wife of Chandra Singh; and 30-year-old Sabita Rani, wife of Palanu Rani. Both of the deceased were residents of the same area.

Witnesses said a thunderbolt struck the duo while they were working in their courtyard of their house in the morning, leaving them dead on the spot, said Mohammad Towhidul Islam, chairman of the Aloyakhoa union.
