Dhaka: BNP should first dissolve its central committee and remove its chairperson Khaleda Zia and senior vice-chairman Tarique Rahman for the betterment of the party, said ruling Awami League’s publicity secretary Hasan Mahmud on Thursday.

He said, ‘BNP should dissolve its central committee after removing Begum Khaleda Zia (from the post of chairperson) for the betterment of the party.’

‘BNP should dissolve its central committee instead of other committees after removing Begum Khaleda Zia for the betterment of the party... for the overall reorganisation of BNP, it should also remove Tarique Rahman, who is leading terrorist activities in the country staying abroad,’ he said.

He came up with the opinion at a discussion in Dhaka marking 34^th Day of Homecoming of Sheikh Hasina.

Bangladesh Swadhinata Parishad organised the discussion at the National Press Club with its adviser Abdullah Al Kaiser in the chair.
