Shibir activist held in Gaibandha over MP Liton murder
Police arrested an activist of Islami Chhatra Shibir from South Shibrampur village in Sundarganj upazila of Gaibandha on early Thursday in connection with the killing of Gaibandha-1 lawmaker Manjurul Islam Liton.
The arrestee is Saidul Islam, a resident of the same village, reports UNB.
Sundarganj Police Station officer in-charge Atiar Rahman said a team of police conducted a raid at the house of Saidul in the area and arrested him in the dead of night.
The arrestee was wanted in several cases, the OC added.
Liton was shot at point blank range by some miscreants at his village home at Masterpara in Bamandanga union of Sundarganj Upazila on 31 December.
The MP was admitted to Rangpur Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead.
