Dhaka: Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) on Thursday announced a partial committee of its cultural wing Jatiyatabadi Samajik Sangskritik Sangstha (Jasas) making Dhaka University Prof Mamun Ahmed its president and actor Helal Khan general secretary.

BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir approved the 30-member partial committee in consultation with party chairperson Khaleda Zia, said a party press release.

Actor Babul Ahmed were made senior vice president of Jasas while Jakir Hossain Rokon senior joint general secretary and Chowdhury Mazahar Ali organising secretary.

Khaleda’s personal photographer Nuruddin Ahmed Nuru, her media wing member Sayrul Kabir Khan, music composer Ethun Babu, singers Rizia Parveen and Badshah Bulbul were made vice presidents of the new Jasas committee.

Jasas’s previous 345-member committee was made in 2010 appointing MA Malek as its president and singer Monir Khan general secretary.

As part of the party’s move to overhaul its associate bodies, earlier BNP also announced the partial committees of its women wing Mohila Dal, voluntary wing Swechchhasebak Dal and youth wing Jubo Dal.
