Dhaka: Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) in a drive arrested two members of a forgery gang along with 161 passports from the city’s Mohammadpur area on Thursday.

During the drive, the elite force also recovered 87 fake seals of officials, two laptops and other documents from their possession.

The arrestees are Rabiul Hasan alias Rabiullah, 27, and Abu Bakar Siddique, 20.

Briefing reporters at the Rab-2 battalion headquarters of Agargaon, its commanding officer (CO) Lt Col Md Iftekharul Mabub said a team of the battalion conducted a drive at a house adjacent to Akhra temple of Rayerbagh in Mohammadpur in the afternoon and arrested them.

He said Rabiul used to introduce him as a lawyer although he has no registration from the Bar Council.

He was involved in earning money attesting documents of people, including students who want to go aboard for study, with fake seals, the Rab-2 CO said.
