BCL-Shibir clash leaves 7 injured
Chittagong: At least seven students were injured in a clash between the activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) and Islami Chhatra Shibir on Chittagong University campus on Friday.
Witnesses said an activist of BCL got locked in an altercation with a Shibir man at about 4:00pm over a cricket match at the field of Alaul Hall, triggering the clash.
Following the incident, activists of both the groups chased each other carrying sharp weapons and fire arms, leaving seven injured in the mayhem.
Later, the injured students were taken to the university’s medical centre.
Hathazari police officer-in-charge M Salauddin confirmed the incident.
Security has been tightened on the campus to fend off further trouble.
