Defamation case filed against Khaleda Zia
Dhaka: A defamation case has been filed against BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia for making a ‘defamatory statement’ about Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
AB Siqqique, president of Jananetri Parishad, filed the case with the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Abullah Al Masud on Wednesday morning.
The court heard the complaint and asked the officer-in-charge of Shahbagh Police Station to submit a report on 22 February after investigating the issue.
Earlier on 31 December last, the BNP chief said that Bangabandhu wanted to be the prime minister of undivided Pakistan rather than lead the country to independence.
The BNP chief came up with the remarks at the 38th founding anniversary of Chhatra Dal at the Institution of Engineers Bangladesh in the city.
