Dhaka: Customs officials arrested a Singapore returned passenger along with 10 gold bars weighing one kilogram at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka early on Wednesday.

 Fazlul Huq, in his forties, of Keraniganj, was held in Green Channel area of the airport at about 12:15am and recovered 10 gold bars weighing one kilogramme kept inside his rectum, said assistant commissioner of customs Ahsanul Kabir.

The market value of the seized gold bars is Taka 50lakh, he said.

The arrestee was returned to Dhaka by a flight of Singapore Airlines at about 9:00pm on Tuesday.

However, Fazlul Huq was handed over to airport Police.

Two cases, one each under Special Powers Act and Customs Act, were filed with Airport Police in this connection.
