Dhaka: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will go to Gopalganj on Thursday on a two-day visit to open the National Rover Moot, the biggest gathering of the Rover Scouts.

The prime minister is scheduled to inaugurate the weeklong moot in Manikdah Housing Area in Gopalganj at about 11:00am on Thursday, said an official.

After opening the moot, Sheikh Hasina will head for Tungipara, the ancestral home of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

The prime minister would place wreaths at the mazar of Bangabandhu, offer Fateha and join a special prayer.

Sheikh Hasina will stay overnight at her village home in Tungipara and leave for Dhaka in the afternoon on Friday.

Meanwhile, all preparations have been completed to make successful the National Rover Moot in Gopalganj.

The theme of the moot has been fixed as Shantimoy Jibon, Unnata Desh (peaceful life, developed country).

On the occasion, a press conference was arranged in Manikdah Housing Area in Gopalganj district town to brief the media about the preparation of the moot.

National Commissioner (public relations and marketing) Sarwar Mohammad Shahriar read out a written statement on the occasion.

He said 10,000 rover scouts from SAARC and the Asia-Pacific region countries will take part in the weeklong moot.

Shahriar said the ‘main arena’ of the moot has been set up in Manikdah Housing Area in Gopalganj town, while the ‘camp-in-camp’ has been established in Tungipra.

The ‘main arena’ of the moot has been named after Bangabandhu, while the ‘camp-in-camp’ after Bangamata Fazilatunnesa Mujib.

The entire rover moot area has been divided into four villages and those have been named after four national leaders—Syed Nazrul Islam, Tajuddin Ahmed Captain M Mansur Ali and AHM Qamaruzzaman.

Chairman of the organizing committee of the National Rover Moot and Disaster Management Secretary M Shah Kamal and Deputy Commissioner of Gopalganj Mohammad Mokhlesur Rahman were present at the press conference.
