Woman’s bullet-hit body recovered in Dhaka
Dhaka: Police recovered the bullet-hit body of a woman from Dhaka North city’s Gulshan area early Saturday.
The deceased was Rani, 35, daughter of late Shahjahan. Hailing from Jamalpur, she used to reside at Kuril in the city with her two children as her husband Alam left her five years back.
Sub-inspector Faruque Alam of Gulshan Police Station told UNB that he along with his team members recovered the body of an unidentified woman, aged around 35, from in front of house -38, Road-43 of Gulshan-2 around 1am.
Later, the body was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Dr Sohel Mahmud, head of the DMCH forensic department, said two bullets were found inside the body of woman, draped in yellow salwar-kamiz, during postmortem.
Rani’s younger sister Shahnaz went to the DMCH morgue on Saturday evening and identified the victim.
Shahnaz said Rani, mother of 17-year-old son Shanta and five-year-old daughter Nandini, came out of her Kuril residence around 8pm on Friday but did not return overnight.
