Lakshmipur: Armed robbers looted valuables from a house at Andhar Manik in Sadar upazila of Lakshmipur killing former union council member early on Sunday.

The deceased is Safiq Ullah Safu.

Sadar Police Officer-in-charge Abdullah Al Mamun Bhuiyan said a gang of around 12 armed robbers entered the house of Safiq breaking open the door at about 3:30am and started to loot valuables.

As the house inmates raised a hue and cry, the robbers opened fire at them, leaving Safiq dead on the spot.

Being informed, police recovered the body and sent it to Lakshmipur Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
