Gaibandha: A Gaibandha court on Sunday granted bail to 31 Santal men in a case filed over attacking police during a clash with the law enforcers and workers of Rangpur Sugar Mills in Gobindaganj upazila on November 6 last.

Judicial Magistrate Taskinul Haque passed the order when the accused surrendered before the court seeking bail.

On November 6, three Santal men were killed and 20 people, including nine policemen, injured in a series of clashes following an attempt by the workers of Rangpur Sugar Mills to evict the Santals from the mill area with the help of the law enforcers.

Kalyan Kumar Chakrabwarty, sub-inspector of Gobindaganj Police Station, filed a case against 31 Santal men in this connection.
