BNP renews call for discussion
BNP on Sunday renews its call to hold an all-party discussion to find out ways to arrange a fee and fair national election.
‘An unelected government is shamelessly holding power, but does not bother about strengthening the weak democratic system incorporating other parties. It just spreading hatred and hostility against the opposition party,’ said BNP international affairs secretary Asaduzzaman Ripon at a press briefing in Dhaka.
‘Lack of accountability and presence of an opposition party in Parliament have led to this uncomfortable situation,’ he added.
Asaduzzaman also complained that the present opposition party in Parliament is not elected and thus always praises the government initiatives.
‘True speech and voice of the people is absent in the House as the domestic opposition party is in fact becomes a part of the government,’ added the leader.
He said BNP boycotted the 5 January polls as a free and fair election was impossible under the present government.
He said, ‘As a liberal democratic party, BNP condemned and protested at the controversial policies and steps of the government, and will continue in future under the constitutional periphery and peacefully.’
