President to welcome Palestinian President at Dhaka airport tomorrow

Dhaka: Bangladesh President Abdul Hamid will welcome his Palestinian counterpart Mahmoud Abbas, who will arrive in Dhaka on a three-day official visit on Wednesday.

The president will receive Mahmoud Abbas at the VIP terminal of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the afternoon.

Earlier, on Tuesday, a foreign ministry press release said at the invitation of President Md. Abdul Hamid, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas is coming to Dhaka on a three-day visit by a special flight on 1 February.

Abbas will make a courtesy call on President Md. Abdul Hamid, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and some senior political leaders during the visit.

The visiting Palestinian delegation includes Foreign Minister Dr Riad Al Maliki, Chief Justice Mahmud Al-Habbash, President’s Spokesman Aburudainah, Advisor for Diplomatic Affairs and International Relations Dr. Majdi Al-Khalidi and some other civil and military officials.

Palestinian President would exchange views on different bilateral, regional and international issues. It is expected that a memorandum of Understanding (MoU) will be signed between two countries on the formation of ministerial-level joint-commission, the release said.

Mahmoud Abbas will also place wreath at the portrait of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in front of the Bangabandhu Museum of Dhanmondi.

Later, the Palestinian president will also attend a dinner to be hosted by President Hamid at Bangabhaban on the day.

Palestinian President will conclude his three-day visit to Bangladesh on 3 February.
