Militants rent house in guise of construction workers: RAB director
Dhaka: The four militants, suspected members of banned militant outfit JMB who were held in a raid at a house in Jatrabari early on Wednesday, ranted the house in guise of construction workers, said Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) Media wing director Mufti Mahmud Khan.
Mufti Mahmud said the detainees are Shahinuzzaman, Mahbubur Rahman, Ashfaq-e-Azam alias Apple, and Ashraful Ali.
He said the two of the militants rented the second floor of the five-storey building claiming themselves as workers on 23 January. They were supposed to bring their families at the flat on 1 February.
One of the militants, Shahinuzzaman, a member of Neo-JMB, was receiving training at Chittagong, said the RAB officials.
Mufti Mahmud said the detainees will be present before the court on Wednesday and will be taken to law enforcer’s custody for quizzing.
Local people said Shailu Begum, the owner of the five-storey building at east Dolairpar of Daniaroad, lost her husband some days ago. She has two sons. Her elder son lives abroad while the younger studies at a local school.
Earlier, four suspected members of banned militant outfit Jamaatul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) including its alleged IT chief were held during a raid at a house in east Dholaipar area of Jatrabari in Dhaka.
Ashfaq-e-Azam alias Apple, the IT (Information Technology) chief of JMB faction, which RAB called the Sarwar-Tamim group, was held during the drive.
RAB Signal and Media Wing assistant Director Mizanur Rahman told NTV Online on Wednesday morning, being tipped off a team of RAB 10 conducted a drive at the house from 4:00am to 7:30am.
Mizanur Rahman, also a superintendent of police, said RAB also recovered arms, bullets and a huge numbers of explosive materials from their possession.
