2 policemen injured in Bangshal acid attack
Dhaka: Two police member suffered burn injuries as miscreants hurled acid on them in front of Mitford Hospital in the old part of Dhaka early on Wednesday.
The incident took place when a patrol team of police intercepted a motorbike in front of Mitford Hospital at about 12:15am.
The motorcycle riders fled the scene after throwing acid on them, said Bangshal Police duty officer Sub Inspector Abdus Salam.
Two policemen, Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Nuruzzaman, and Constable Rafiqul Alam suffered injuries in the attack, he said.
Of the injured, Constable Rafiqul was taken to Burn and Plastic Surgery Unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) with four per cent burns to his face while ASI Nuruzzaman was admitted to Salimullah Medical College Hospital, SI Abdus Salam said.
Local people caught one of the miscreants and beat him before handing him over to police. The detained miscreant is now undergoing treatment at National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedic Rehabilitation, he added.
