Man to die for killing schoolgirl
A Chapainawabganj tribunal convicted a man and sentenced him to death for killing a schoolgirl on Wednesday. The sentenced convict is Abdul Malek, a resident of Baluga Diar village in Sadar upazila.
According to the prosecution, the convict swooped on four schoolgirls including Konika, daughter of Laxman Ghosh of Diar Dhainagar village in Sadar upazila at Manipur intersection and hit them with sharp weapons and left them injured, while they were returning home from school on 27 May 2016, reports UNB.
Later, they were taken to Sadar hospital where doctors declared Konika dead. Local people caught Abdul Malek and handed him over to police.
Anjana Rani Ghosh, mother of the girl, filed a murder case with Sadar Police Station.
Police submitted a charge-sheet against Malek on 7 October 2016.
After examining the records and witnesses, Chapainawabganj Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-2 and Additional District and Sessions Judge Ziaur Rahman handed down the verdict.
