Hotel Sundarban at risk as excavation collapsed
Dhaka: Hotel Sundarban at capital’s Karwanbazar area has been evacuated as a lane near the hotel caved in into construction site of a building, said fire service officials.
Duty officer of the fire service control room Inspector Monirul Islam said the road caved in into the excavation dug up for construction of the building around 7:30am, leaving Sundarban Hotel in danger.
Temporary stalls on the sideway of the hotel were also damaged due to the collapse.
None was injured in this connection.
Fire service and WASA authorities marked movement of heavy vehicles precarious near the affected area. They requested traffic police to restrict movement of heavy vehicles in the area.
Fire service said the building might collapse. The water and gas line has been damaged and WASA disconnected water connection in the entire area.
