Dhaka: Two detained rapist confessed their involvement in the gang-rape of an indigenous woman inside a microbus in Dhaka.
The arrestees are Mohammad Ashraf Khan Tushar, in his thirties, and micro bus driver, Mohammad Zahidul Islam Luvlu, believed to be 26.
Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) held them from Dhaka, and Kuakata, Patuakhali, on Tuesday night.
RAB media wing director commander Mufti Mahmud Khan called for a press conference at RAB headquarters in Uttara, Dhaka, at about 12:00noon in this connection.
Mufti Mahmud Khan said, Tushar and Luvlu in primary quizzing confessed their involvement with the gang-rape.
He said, Tushar, who is the prime accused of the incident, met the victim for the first time, and asked for her mobile number, while he was visiting Jamuna Future Park along with two foreigners, on 17 May. The victim worked as a sales person in a shop of the shopping mall.
On 18 May, Tushar called the woman and offered her a job, said RAB commander.
On 20 May, he asked the victim to meet him at the bus stoppage on the next day and also reminded her to bring a Curriculum Vitae (CV) for job, added Mufti Mahmud Khan.
On 21 May, Tushar and Luvlu asked the woman to get into a micro bus while she went to the bus stoppage with the CV as per pre-plan, the RAB official added.
RAB commander said Tushar and Lavlu claimed there was no one else in the microbus except them during the incident.
However, the victim filed the case against five unnamed persons as one of her relatives told her that police would not filed case if there are less than five accused, said the RAB media wing director.
