6 to die for killing Kushtia van driver

A Kushtia court on Tuesday sentenced six people to death in a case filed over the killing of a van driver in Sadar upazila in Kushtia in 2012.
The condemned convicts are Sajjad, Majed, Shukchad, Rashidul Islam, Kalai and Monser, reports UNB.
According to the prosecution, Sajjad and Majed called van driver Abu Bakkar Siddique, son of Abdul Jalil of Jotpara village in Sadar upazila, out of the house on June 10, 2012.
Local people found the body of Bakkar near his house on the following day and informed police.
Nur Haque, brother of the deceased, filed a case against seven people with Kushtia Model Police Station.
Of the seven accused, Kamrul Islam was killed in a gunfight with police.
After examining the records and witnesses, Judge of District and Session Judge’s Court Reza Mohammad Alamgir Hasan Islam handed down the verdict in presence of the convicts.
