Gazipur: Kashipur prison inmate Nurul Islam Hawlader was reportedly died of cardiac arrest at about 9:45pm on Tuesday.

He was from the village of Badnakathi at Jhalakathi.

Kashimpur prison jailor Jannat-ul-Farhad said Nurul Islam was sentenced to death in a case filed under women and children repression act with Shampur police in Dhaka. He was sent to the prison in November in 2013.

Nurul Islam was first taken to the prison hospital and later to Gazipur Tajuddin Ahmed Medical College Hospital after he had felt pain in his chest. The doctors, however, declared him dead.

Doctor Abdus Salam Sarkar said Nurul Islam died of cardiac arrest.
