Eight members of two teenage boys' gangs detained
Dhaka: Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) detained eight members of two reported teenage boys’ gangs—Disco Boys and Big Boss—over the killing of Adnan Kabir, a ninth grader of Uttara Trust School and College in Dhaka.
RAB officials via a text message on Tuesday morning said the eight members of Disco Boys and Bigg Boss were held in capital’s Uttara.
The message says, a press conference will be held at RAB Media Wing Centre in Karwanbazar at about 11:00am on Wednesday in this connection.
Earlier, on 6 January, Adnan Kabir, aged around 15, was beaten to death allegedly by some local boys in Uttara.
Kabir Hossain, father of Adnan, filed a case with the Uttara (West) police.
Kabir in his statement said His son was killed following a clash between his friends over establishing seniority.
On 7 January, the Uttara (West) Police Officer-in-charge Ali Hossain said two suspected men were arrested in the case. The arrestees are Mohammad Safat Jakir, aged 16, and Nasir Mohammad Alam, in his eighteen; both are Adnan’s friend, and residents of the same area.
Police said members of some teenage boys’ groups had a clash over seniority at sector-13 in Uttara on 6 January. At one stage, members of the rival group attacked Adnan with hockey sticks.
However, severely injured Adnan was taken to a local hospital where doctors declared him dead.
It has been known that, Adnan Kabir was a member of a teenage boy’s gang, Nine Star.
Adnan’s father, Kabir Hossain, is resident of sector-13 in Uttara. He is a trader of construction supplies.
