Dhaka: Banning Jamaat-e-Islami in the country may be delayed since the government is meticulously analysing legal procedures to ban the party, says law minister.
Law Minister Anisul Haque on Wednesday made the remark in a press conference at the Secretariat in Dhaka after a courtesy call with Swedish Ambassador in Dhaka.
Asked about why the delay in banning Jamaat as a political party in spite of the higher court’s order, the minister said, ‘Cabinet’s approval is needed in this case. At this moment important issues are being produced in the cabinet. It’s a time consuming issue.’
