Sagar-Runi murder: Court asks IO to submit progress report Mar 21

Dhaka: A Dhaka court on Wednesday asked the investigation officer of journalist couple Sagar-Runi murder case to submit a progress report before it on March 21.

Metropolitan Magistrate Mazharul Islam passed the order as IO of the case assistant police super Mahiuddin Ahmed, also assistant director of RAB, failed to submit the probe report even after the extension of deadline for several times.

The last deadline, fixed y a court, for submitting the investigation report ended on Wednesday.

Maasranga Television news editor Sagar Sarowar and his wife ATN Bangla senior reporter Meherun Runi were found dead at their rented apartment in the city’s West Razabazar area on February 11, 2012.

One day after the murder, Nawsher Alam Roman, younger brother of Runi, filed a murder case with Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station.

On April 18, 2012, the High Court (HC) asked the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to handover charge of probing the journalist couple murder case to the RAB.
