Dhaka: Cabinet Purchase Committee approved some 12 purchase proposals including construction of 672 flats at sector -18 of Uttara Model Town area for the low and middle income groups at a cost of Tk 329crore.

A number of the proposals witnessed an increase in cost, including increase of Tk 151.81crore for the Dhaka-Chittagong 4-Lane upgrade project.

A meeting of the Cabinet Purchase Committee, with Finance Minister AMA Muhith in the chair, gave the approval to a tender proposal of the Rajdhani Unnayan Kartipakkha (Rajuk) to build the apartments each having a size of 1250 square feet.  

Additional secretary of the Cabinet Division Mostafizur Rahman informed that these flats will be built under a package which will have 8 separate 16-storied high-rise buildings including basements.

The 8 ‘skyscrapers’ will be built in three separate groups of 4, 5 and 6. Of them, four buildings will be developed under group-4 accommodating 336 flats. Construction firm ARK-MBP won the job at a contract value of Tk 170.08crore.

The same company will build two more buildings under group-6 accommodating 180 flats at the contract value of Tk 79.04crore

Navana Construction won the contract of group-5 in which two buildings, having 180 flats, will be developed at a contract value of Tk 79.85crore.

The cabinet body approved the Railway Ministry’s tender for construction of a rail-bridge on new rail track from Iswardi to Pabna via Chalakchar route. Construction firm BPAL-AC won of the contract at a cost of Tk 159.80crore.

A tender proposal for construction of internal roads along with surface drain at Purbachal New Town project received the nod of the committee. Two companies won the contracts of the job under two separate lots at a cost of Tk 14.09crore and Tk 15.04crore respectively.

Kazi Enterprise won a contract for construction of a bridge at Uttara Model Town project (third phase) at a cost of Tk 12.52crore.

The project has changed under six proposals related to the Dhaka-Chittagong 4-Lane Upgrade project. The construction of roads under 4 packages was increased by about Tk 151.81crore while Tk 10.78crore was decreased in the two packages.

Of these, the cost was increased by Tk 74.30crore to add to the original cost of Tk 206.33crore for the works of package-1 having 22 km roads from Daudkandi Toll plaza to Kutimbapur.

The cost of Package 2 having 23 km roads from Kutumbapur to Comilla bypass road, was decreased by Tk 6.20crore from the original cost of Tk 189.81 crore.

The cost of Package 4 containing 20 km Comilla bypass to Batisha bazaar, was increased by Tk 11.20crore to add to the original cost of Tk 156.08crore.

The cost of Package 8 having 18 km from Mirsarai to Panchashila bazaar was decreased by Tk 4.54crore from the original cost of Tk 161.15crore

The cost of Package 9 containing 17.43 km from Panchashila bazaar to Comilla bypass, was increased by Tk 3.24 crore to add to the original cost of Tk 157.20crore.

The cost of Package  10, about 15.29 km road from the end of Comilla bypass to Chittagong city was increased by Tk 63.07crore to add to the original cost of Tk 172.55crore.

The cost of Chittagong Railway Station Yard Remodeling project was increased by Tk 24.66crore to add to the original cost of Tk 226.86crore.
