Dhaka: A female worker was killed and several others were injured when the boundary wall of an under-construction building collapsed on them in the city's Baridhara area on Thursday.

Mizanur Rahman, the duty officer at the Fire Service control room, said part of the boundary wall of the building, located on road No 13, collapsed on workers while they were repairing it around 10:58 am, leaving one dead on the spot and another injured.

Firefighters rescued the other workers and took them to Kurmitola General Hospital.

The deceased was Bedana Begum, 33, wife of Md Abdullah.

Contacted, Sub-Inspector (SI) Borhanuddin of Gulshan police station said piling works were being continued on the site located at plot no-7 in the morning. Suddenly part of boundary wall collapsed injuring Bedana and several other workers.

Seriously injured Bedana was rushed to nearby United Hospital where she was declared dead, SI Borhanuddin said.

Abdullah, the victim’s husband filed an Unnatural Death (UD) case with Gulshan police station.
