Rape accused remanded in 10-day custody

Dhaka: A Dhaka court remanded two men, who were held for their involvement in a rape of an indigenous woman, in 10-day police custody for questioning.
Dhaka Metropolitan magistrate Amit Kumar Dey granted police custody on Thursday.
Earlier on Wednesday, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) detained Ashraf Khan Tushar and Jahidul Islam Lovelu from Dhaka’s Gulshan and Patuakhali’s Kuakata for their alleged involvement with rape of an indigenous woman into a microbus.
RAB said in primary interrogation, the detained men confessed to rape the woman. RAB also recovered the microbus.
On 21 May, miscreants raped an indigenous woman inside a microbus on capital’s Kuril-Uttara road.
The victim, who was reportedly in her early twenties, was waiting for transport in the Kuril area after her office at Jamuna Future Park.
The woman filed a case against five unidentified men with Bhatara police on 22 May in this connection.
