Dhaka: Members of Detective Branch (DB) arrested 10 people for allegedly impersonating its members from the city's Sabujbagh area on Saturday night.

The law enforcers also recovered three vehicles, five pistols, three magazines, five rounds of bullet, firearms, one walkie-talkie set, five handcuffs and five DB jackets from their possessions.

The arrestees are Yusuf Kazi, Alauddin Ali, Akash Rahman Mintu, Afsar Ali, Faruk Hossain, Manik Miah, Masud Pervej, Shahin Kazi, Liton Sheikh, Masum Gazi and Adnan Sheikh.

Tipped off that a gang of robbers were preparing to commit robbery in the area, a special team of DB police conducted a drive there at night and arrested the 10 people, said DB Joint Commissioner Abdul Baten while briefing reporters at the DMP media centre.

They used to snatch money from people introducing themselves as DB police, he added.
