Bagerhat: Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested two members of a forest robber gang after a gunfight in Pashurtala Khal area of the Sundarbans in Shyamnagar upazila of Satkhira district on Monday morning.

Major Adnan Kabir, deputy commander of Barisal RAB 8, said a team of the elite force conducted a drive in the area, following information about the presence of the forest robber gang ‘Nuru Bahini’ members there at about 8:15am.

Sensing the presence of the RAB members, the gang members opened fire, forcing the elite force to retaliate that triggered a gunfight.

Several gunshots were traded between the criminals and the RAB members during the hour-long gunfight.

Later, RAB members arrested gang leader Nur Hossain alias Nuru and Abbas while the other gang members managed to flee.

The elite force also recovered four firearms and 50 bullets from their possession.
